I’m planning a short trip to Morocco and will only be there for five days. I’ve never been before, so I’m looking for recommendations on what to see and do with limited time.
Should I focus on one area or try to visit a few places?
Any tips on must-see sights, activities, or travel routes would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks.

If you have five days in Morocco, you can make the most of your time by exploring some of the country’s most iconic destinations. Here’s a suggested itinerary to help you get a mix of culture, history, and natural beauty:
Day 1: Arrival in Marrakech
Start your journey in Marrakech. Spend the day exploring the famous Jemaa el-Fnaa square, wander through the colourful souks, and visit the stunning Bahia Palace. If time allows, catch the sunset at a rooftop café overlooking the square.
Day 2: Marrakech and Atlas Mountains
Spend more time in Marrakech, visiting the Jardin Majorelle and the Koutoubia Mosque. In the afternoon, consider a half-day trip to the Atlas Mountains, where you can explore Berber villages and get a feel for Morocco’s diverse landscapes.
Day 3: Ait Benhaddou and Ouarzazate
Take a scenic drive or a guided tour to Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its ancient Kasbahs and appearances in films. Nearby Ouarzazate, often called the “Gateway to the Sahara,” is another great stop, especially if you’re interested in film studios and desert landscapes.
Day 4: Desert Adventure
If you’re interested in the Sahara, a desert excursion is necessary! Head to Merzouga for an overnight desert camp. You’ll ride camels across the dunes, have dinner under the stars, and experience traditional Moroccan music.
Day 5: Return to Marrakech
You can head back to Marrakech to relax, shop for souvenirs, or try more Moroccan cuisine before departure.
This itinerary covers a mix of Morocco’s highlights without feeling too rushed. Each destination offers a unique glimpse into the country’s culture and landscapes.
Enjoy your trip!
