Hey everyone,
I’m working on some video content and must export it from Adobe Premiere for Instagram. I’m unsure what the best export settings are to ensure the video looks great on Instagram, especially with the app’s resolution and format requirements.
Can anyone guide me on what settings to use for Instagram posts, stories, and reels?
Thanks in advance!

Hi @dchadmin
When exporting from Adobe Premiere for Instagram, the settings depend on your target format—for posts, stories, or reels. Here’s a general guide for each:
For Instagram Posts:
- Resolution: 1080 x 1080 pixels (square) or 1080 x 1350 pixels (portrait)
- Frame Rate: 30 fps
- Codec: H.264
- Bitrate: 8-12 Mbps
- Aspect Ratio: 1:1 (square) or 4:5 (portrait)
- Audio: AAC, 48 kHz, 320 kbps
For Instagram Stories/Reels:
- Resolution: 1080 x 1920 pixels (vertical)
- Frame Rate: 30 fps
- Codec: H.264
- Bitrate: 8-12 Mbps
- Aspect Ratio: 9:16
- Audio: AAC, 48 kHz, 320 kbps
Steps to Export:
- Go to File > Export > Media.
- Choose H.264 as the format and use the above settings for resolution, frame rate, and aspect ratio.
- In the Bitrate Settings, select a target bitrate of around 8-12 Mbps for high-quality video without making the file size too large.
- For Instagram Stories and Reels, ensure the aspect ratio is 9:16 so the video fits the vertical screen.
These settings should help ensure your videos are optimized for Instagram and look sharp when uploaded.
